Procedures & Guidelines
- Candidates for individual, couple, or group therapy sign a Non-Violence Contract during their first session with MEN IN CRISIS.
- During initial counseling sessions, MEN IN CRISIS helps each client to develop a Violence Prevention Plan. This plan identifies early warning signs of potential anger or violence and helps outline strategies to avoid becoming physically or emotionally abusive.
- MEN IN CRISIS helps each client examine factors that contribute to abusive behavior, including social influences, family backgrounds, gender stereotypes, low self-esteem, over-dependence on a spouse, communication problems, and difficulty handling stress. Clients also learn how to express anger without using violence.
- Couple and family therapy is available for clients who succeed in maintaining non-violent behavior.
A single incident can lead to more violence. It should not be ignored. MEN IN CRISIS provides specialized support and insight for men and women who sincerely want to change.
